One Universe emerged from founder Vinita Nagpal Kohli's profound reverence for yoga, nature, and the interconnectedness of all beings. Drawing inspiration from the tranquillity and wisdom of her yoga practice, Vinita envisioned a brand that would share this deep connection with the world. Inspired by the Dalai Lama's teachings, she aimed to educate people about the importance of wellness practices, believing that even a few minutes of mindfulness could pave the way to lasting peace and transformation.
Driven by a deep desire to contribute positively to the world, Vinita embarked on a quest to create 100% sustainable mats. This journey led her to collaborate with artisan weavers from a handloom village in South of India, ensuring the use of the softest cotton and natural herbal dyes through the Panch Bhutia technique, which embodies the five elements of earth. Additionally, her passion for India's cultural heritage led her to incorporate traditional herbal block printing from North of India, combining the best of Indian craftsmanship to create mats that are both functional and visually stunning, while being gentle on the earth.
